New masterclass: Which publishing path?
10th February 2026

I’ve been a traditionally published author for years. I’ve got the rights back to some of my books and have re-published two of them: The Priest and the Lily and Sugar Island.
Shortly I’m going to republish my very first novel, Theory of Mind. And I’ve decided to be brave and experiment further, maybe self-publishing books that I haven’t already had published traditionally. Publishing is changing so dramatically, that there are many more options out there for writers, whether you’ve been published traditionally or not, whether you’re just starting out, or, like me, you want to explore a hybrid career.
To help you decide what’s right for you – trad, self or hybrid – I’ve teamed up with writer and creative writing teacher, Ken Preston ,who has self-published over 20 books.
We’re going to offer a masterclass on Which Publishing Path? to help you work out what’s best for you.
Tuesday 21 April 7-8.30pm GMT
This session is designed to give you a clear, practical framework so you can choose the path that fits your book and your goals.
I’m going to go into how traditional publishing really works: what timelines actually look like, the basics of rights and contracts — including what you can really expect to earn.
Then Ken Preston will take you through self-publishing and hybrid routes, what it takes to do it professionally, what it tends to cost, and what can genuinely pay off.
We’ll finish with plenty of time for live Q&A, and you’ll also get a recording and a bonus handout to help you decide your next steps.
We want you to feel confident about your publishing route — and avoid expensive mistakes — we’d love you to join us.
Tickets available here. Concessions available, as well as as £10 discount off the full ticket price for members of my Substack.
Hope to see you there!
